Alloy Wheel Repairs

Here at Browns Garage we understand how important alloy wheels are to the overall finish and look of a car. Alloy wheels are put through a lot and it’s not uncommon for them to receive scuffs, chips and cracks.

But, not only are alloy wheels important for the aesthetics of our car, they are essential for safety too. Even just a small crack on your alloy is a potential hazard, with blowouts and damaged tyres the most dangerous risks. That’s why it’s important to repair your alloy wheels with a service you can trust like Browns Garage.

Our alloy wheel repair method

If your alloy wheels have seen better days, do not fear, we can help! We have a tried-and-tested method for welding alloy wheels that ensures safety and integrity remains.

To fix an alloy wheel safely, we drill the end of the crack, which eliminates any further cracking. From there, the damage is ground out and welded from both sides – this melts in the middle to create a reinforced fillet weld.

The weld is then ground flush on the inside of the alloy to ensure that an airtight seal is formed. This process also ensures that damage to the tyre bead is avoided, extending the lifetime of your tyres that would otherwise be worn down by damaged alloys.
